I wasn’t sure what to write for New Year’s. I knew I didn’t want a Best Of list or an overview of 2016. I was kinda stumped. Coincidentally, a few days ago, Co-conspirator and I were coffeeing at Café Stella and talking about movies.
Specifically we were talking about how often we’ve seen various movies and quickly turned to the practice of seeing a movie multiple times back to back. Yeah, I’m one of those people. Also turns out I’ve done way more than she has. Really hitched her wagon to a star, hasn’t she?
It was way more interesting than it sounds.
Okay maybe marginally more interesting than it sounds. But still.
Thus arose the misguided notion of adding this information to The Neverending Movie List. I was hesitant. “Who cares?” I asked, “I mean, who gives a rat’s ass how many times I’ve seen anything?”
She said, “I think it’s interesting. And you care.” Fair enough. Those of you who’ve read what Stephen King says about the Ideal Reader know why that was all I needed to hear.
So now, if I’ve seen a movie multiple times, that number appears in parentheses at the end of the entry. But there’s more. If you see a slash and a second number, that’s how many consecutive times I saw the movie in the theater.
Literally. As in saw it, went out to the lobby, bought another ticket, and saw it again. And again. And sometimes again.
Probably explains a lot.
