So, under 100 posts left to go gang! I was gonna say “less than,” but grammatically that’s nonstandard, but “fewer than” just sounds weird to me in this construction. Then again, my usage is frequently nonstandard, like me. Still, “under” it is.
We’re also comin’ up on #300 pretty quick as well. I’d like to mark that occasion with something a little special, so I’m repeating a request I made previously (and then promptly forgot about). So, in the Comments, by email, or on the Facebooks or Instagrams or Twitters if you’re following there, please answer this question:
What is a movie scene that bothered, disturbed, upset, or traumatized you?
My preference would be a horror movie but A) not everyone is a horror fan, and 2) the definition of “horror” is a subjective thing—one person’s gore is another person’s slapstick.
So, we’ve got roughly a month, and I promise to do something at least kinda special with the answers along with just putting them on a list. Can’t see what y’all come up with!
PS: I’m given to believe by my favorite colleague that “under 100” is nonstandard as well. What can I say? I tried.
Easy. Mulholland Dr., the diner scene. I missed this scare in the theater AND at home on cable (quick bathroom break and answering the phone at home). It wasn’t until a few years later when I re-watched the film and man, I jumped a few feet in a few directions.
