Yesterday was, of course, Halloween, so I did a thing and decided to write a post about it. It is Halloween related and it is Post #331 after all. I’ve mentioned my good buddy Jorge Mendez on here a number of times. He hosts the Monday night open mic at Venue, is a major horror fan, and is the co-author of Candy & Rigor Mortis Vol. 2: Post Mortem currently available right here right now via Paypal and Venmo. Right. Shameless self-promotion, check.

Anyway, Jorge has always had these great Halloween parties where he’d decorate his house according to a specific theme: evil nursery one year (as if there’s any other kind), asylum another year, you get the idea.
Well eventually this evolved into an annual haunt which quickly took on a life of its own to the point where it’s now a maze he starts building in, like, late August and takes up his entire back yard.
Thus, Gloom House 757 was spawned.

It’s a neighborhood thing, and it’s free. Jorge’s sole request is that, if possible, people bring some non-perishable food items, all of which get donated to the local Foodbank. Here are some photos I took along with a few I cobbled together from other folkses’ social medias.

Evil Nursery

Now, I’ve been trying to participate in this for years, but something always manages to get in the way. But not this year. This year I finally got to be part of the haunt, and as I anticipated, scaring the crap outta people is So. Much. Fun! Seriously, it’s an even bigger rush than gettin’ laughs from a crowd. I already can’t wait for next year!
